From the Airport
The nearest international airport is Lisbon Airport (LIS), about 180 km away (a 2-hour drive); Faro Airport (FAO) is about 210 km away (a 2.5-hour drive). Renting a car at the airport is highly recommended.
Driving
From Lisbon: Take the A2 highway south, connect to the A6 towards Évora, then follow the N18 and N256 roads. Navigate to Monsaraz; there are several free parking lots outside the town. Note that vehicle access is restricted inside the walls.
Public Transport
Take a Rede Expressos bus from Lisbon Sete Rios to Évora or Reguengos de Monsaraz. From Reguengos, you must take a local bus (Rodoviária do Alentejo) or a taxi to Monsaraz (approx. 15 km).

A wonderfully preserved medieval village! The cobblestone streets and white houses are full of history, and the view of Lake Alqueva from the walls is simply unparalleled. Highly recommend visiting at sunset.
One of the most beautiful towns in Portugal! The tranquility here is relaxing, and the surrounding scenery is spectacular. Just be careful, it gets very hot in the summer, so remember to bring water and sunscreen.
Amazing place. The castle isn't huge, but the location is perfect. Had a fantastic traditional Portuguese meal at a restaurant in the village. The only issue is that parking can be hard to find in peak season.
A very romantic and charming place. We stayed here for a night, and stargazing was an absolute highlight since it's a famous dark sky reserve in Europe. Completely fell in love with it!
The panoramic view here is truly breathtaking. You can see the reservoir and the vast plains intertwined. The town itself is also charming with many small shops selling local handicrafts.
Well worth a visit! Very easy to drive from Évora. Recommend wearing flat shoes because it's all cobblestones. The people in town are very friendly, and there are many great spots for photos.
Felt like stepping back into the Middle Ages! Every alley and every door has its story. Time seems to stand still when walking on the walls. A must-visit place in the Alentejo region.
Too beautiful to describe with words. Whether it's the ancient castle ruins or the blue lake water below, it makes you linger. Especially recommend going to the top of the tower, although it's very windy, the view is the best.
